How I've fared at Catholic Kwandong University

Well, it's been nearly 14 years ever since I arrived in Gangneung and laded a job here to teach English at Catholic Kwandong University. It has been dramatic in terms of what I and my other fomer cowokers have experienced from the beginning. Catholic Kwandong University boasts of its 60 year long history and was taken over by a catholic foundation last year in the wake of the unni's financial crisis. So, things certainly got better here. I try not to take things for granted and have to admit Catholic Kwandong University is indeed the workplace that helped me settle here with my family. The campus cafeteria is where I first met my wife for our first date!!! Figure it was 15 years ago.

During the recent trainsition, there have been some politics which drove everyone into turmoil, but guess what, isn't it the same out there? I know that many of my coworkers [not all] left the school with much regret and disappointment, but I just think it's the way it is at work. Their resentment only got worse when it was time for them to move on. This is something the unni has to think about.
One thing I regret the most is that they scrapped all the English conversation programs that started in 2002 where all the students were instructed to practice English skills with native speakers.
Well, I'd say it was a success, but the management needed more statistics to justify the success.
If one starts looking at the students' academics as a political issue, that is where problems happen.

Well, Catholic Kwandong University then comes up with lots of changes in its academic structure.
Some new majors like Broadcasting, Beauty and Healthcare, Computer Graphic Design, Airline Management and Transport, Media Creation are the ones that will look to attract the students out there....

Wish I could write more, but gotta go to pick up my kids~~
